Wessex Chorus community choir has raised £1875.62 for Help & Care's vital volunteering services.
On Tuesday 12th April, the Director of the choir, Martin Arthur, presented a cheque to Help & Care's Director of Services, Des Persse, at the Metropolitan Community Church in Pokesdown.
The Wessex Chorus is a Bournemouth community choir which was started in 2009 as a not-for-profit organisation with the aim of singing to raise money to support various local community needs. The choir raised the money through collections at concerts and events that they have held over the past two years.
As a community choir whose whole purpose is to promote the joy of giving through music, it has been a privilege for us to help raise funds for Help & Care which provides such wonderful support for people in our local community.

Our Community Works volunteering programme is a lifeline for many older people in our community. With approximately 50 different activities every month from walking groups, driving people to hospital appointments to weekly telephone contact with isolated people, and with increasing demand for our services, we are very grateful for any financial support we receive to deliver the service. We are conscious that an effort like this requires planning and action and we are grateful to the members of the choir who have, in their own time, undertaken this fundraising exercise in the name of Help & Care.

Help & Care was nominated by The Wessex Chorus due to two of its members volunteering with the charity and therefore wanting to raise funds so that the volunteer work could continue locally.
Help & Care volunteers offer a range of both practical and emotional support to local older people and carers when they need the support the most. Their work includes accompanying to vital hospital appointments, confidence building to get out and about in the community again, a Telephone Support Befriending Service and Supported Wellbeing Walking Group.
