Mark Sharman, Chief Executive of Help and Care said "I think this news is really exciting. Its time the Voluntary Sector got the recognition it deserves. Charities like ours are so well placed to support local people and communities because we are so much more in touch with them. We spend a lot of time listening to what local people say they want, particularly older people and carers. So we have a pretty good idea of how to go about giving them what they want. Hopefully with new funds, better contracts and support from the top we can do more to support people in the ways they want to be supported."
