 
Help and Care and North Dorset District Council are pleased to announce that the Handiworks home repairs scheme will be reintroduced to residents in North Dorset. The scheme provides an affordable, convenient and reliable solution to home repairs for people over 60 and their carers. Handiworks services include: plumbing, carpentry, installing security and safety equipment and minor electrical and building work. For a small annual fee and a subsidised hourly rate, membership of the scheme provides reliable help with minor DIY jobs around the home. All contractors are skilled, experienced and police checked, giving customers peace of mind and taking the worry out of finding reliable trades people. Gail Percival, Housing Services Manager from Help and Care said: “I am extremely please that our Handiworks service is available to the people of North Dorset. Using skilled and police checked workmen, Handiworks is able to provide assurance and reliability. Many people don’t know who to trust for home repairs, we have the answer – Handiworks.” Cllr Graham Carr-Jones, North Dorset District Council Portfolio Holder for Access and Affordable Housing said: “We are delighted to be able to extend the Handiworks service into the North Dorset area. This is an invaluable service that helps North Dorset’s vulnerable, older homeowners and tenants to get small home repairs and improvements completed, with the confidence of reliable, trustworthy tradesmen at a reasonable cost”.
