How we receive our television signal is changing.
Could you help us to spread the word? The BBC's "Switchover Help Scheme" has been
well-publicised but there are still many people who do not understand what Switchover is about and these are likely to be people who will need help from their community.
Help and Care is supporting the local roll-out of the Switchover Help Scheme. We need to visit every area in Poole and Bournemouth to spread this message and ensure no-one gets missed.
What will volunteers actually have to do?
We need local volunteers who are willing to find people in their local community - to spread the word about the Switchover and help identify older or vulnerable people who may need additional help. You will probably know a lot of people already, the local post master, shopkeeper, publican, priest, parish councillor and community groups. These are the people we hope to find with your support, who will know somebody who needs our help.
What support will volunteers get from Help and Care?
All volunteers will be given training and this will give you more details about the switchover scheme and how you can help. Help and Care will pay reasonable expenses for travel and you will have a project support worker to help you.
What is the time commitment needed?
We recognize that different people will be able to offer different levels of commitment and time. If you are interested we will talk with you about what you can offer and remember a little help goes along way in your community .. so give us a call and let's see if we can find a way of making sure that everybody benefits from the digital switchover.
