Inspirational Older People
(with a combined age of over 2000 years!)
Star in Charity Calendar
Inspirational older people from across Dorset are the stars of a new charity calendar that was launched at an event on 5 December at the Pokesdown and Southbourne Ex Service Mens Club.
The combined age of the models is over 2000 years and features a 72 year old belly dancer, an 89 year old marathon runner and a 78 year old who has raised over £100,000 for charity, to name just a few!
Dorset charity Help and Care decided to produce the calendar, entitled ‘something to be proud of’ to celebrate local older people and their experiences. Help and Care is delighted to have joined forces with Capture to create the calendar. The team at Capture kindly gave their time to take the photographs for free.
Marianne Lambourne, Director of Development at Help and Care said:
“We keenly believe that being older is truly something to be proud of and we want this calendar to inspire people to believe that and feel it. It has been a real pleasure to meet and work with the stars of our calendar who are truly inspirational older people.”
All the proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be donated to Help and Care so that the charity can continue to provide vital help and support to local older people, unpaid carers and the community. Calendars cost £5.99 each or two for £10.
Anyone wishing to purchase a calendar can do so by emailing their order to contact@helpandcare.org.uk or calling 0300 111 3303. They will also be available to purchase from Help and Care, The Pokesdown Centre, 896 Christchurch Road, Bournemouth and in Southbourne from the Post Office, Not Just Cards and The Grove Tavern.
