Older people advised to call Help and Care for advice during the cold snap
OLDER PEOPLE and Carers in Dorset who are worried about how they will cope in the cold weather are being urged to call the Help and Care Gateway helpline on 0300 111 3303.
The Help and Care helpline team can provide a wide range of help and advice to individuals about how to keep safe and warm during the cold snap. From information about shops and pharmacies that deliver and meals on wheels services to advice about winter fuel payments and emergency grants. The team can also sign post to other appropriate local support from both statutory and voluntary organisations.
Anyone worried about older neighbours, friends and family can also call the helpline for advice.
All calls to the helpline are answered by trained, professional Information and Support workers who provide a friendly listening ear, all calls are confidential.
