Bournemouth Rotary Club has donated £500 to the Help and Care Roots gardening service.
Roots gardening service has been provided by Help and Care for over 20 years and helps older people who can no longer manage their garden.
The gardening service also provides an opportunity for people recovering from mental distress to volunteer to work as part of a team with a Garden Services Supervisor. Being part of Roots helps the volunteers to build on their confidence and learn new skills.
Roots Volunteer Trainees work a structured day providing garden services such as; lawn mowing, strimming, planting bulbs, trimming hedges and pruning trees and shrubs in the gardens of older people in Bournemouth and Poole who need help maintaining their garden.
Mike Amos from Help and Care’s Roots gardening service said: “We are delighted to receive this donation from Bournemouth Rotary Club, it will help us to continue to deliver help and support to many local people.”
President Michael Mitchell of the Rotary Club of Bournemouth added: "I am very pleased that my Club is able to support this very worthwhile project which I hope will bring a great deal of pleasure to many people."
