How Help and Care can Help

GATEWAY

Help and Care has an Information Gateway that anyone can telephone to ask for information and advice about anything. If you have a specific question or problem about getting out and about then contact the Information Gateway and one of our friendly team will be happy to talk with you, 0845 4500 418.

CARERS SUPPORT

Help and Care provide many services to Carers to help them in their caring role. These include a sitting service to help carers get out for a well earned break, or Strollers Groups and social events.

VOLUNTEERS

Our dedicated team of volunteers help people in many different ways and provide that extra bit of support or companionship when it is needed. Our volunteers give lifts to hospital appointments, help with shopping and much more.

Transport Schemes

Download our factsheet on Transport to find out more detailed information.

All Councils have A Transport Plan that details how they intend to provide and develop transport services. Each will have website information about Public Transport including bus routes and timetables, ‘socially necessary’ routes and information about concessions.

www.gettingabout.info is a good website for travel planning and accessible transport schemes in Poole, Bournemouth and parts of the rest of Dorset.

Services that come to you

If you are unable to get out and about there are many services that will come to you. These range from meal delivery to mobile hairdressers. Your phone book is a great place to start but here are some examples;

Download our factsheet on opticians who visit you at home.

Read our factsheet about chemists that collect and deliver.

Download the factsheet on foot care services that come to your home.

There are many shops that deliver as well as mobile laundry services; our factsheets have more details about what is available in your area.

We have a factsheet that will tell you about meal delivery services near to where you live.

Other agencies that can help

If you are suffering health or mobility problems that make it difficult for you to get out and about then you may need advice from a professional.

Your GP Practise is a good place to start and your local Primary Care Trust can tell you about other services that may be available to you. [link to Health content page]
