The Older People’s Programme (OPP) is an independent research & development body working to improve services, opportunities and experiences for older people across the UK

OPP works with local, regional and national partners across the UK to improve services with and for older people; influence policy and practice; share learning and information about good practice; and support the continuous development of public services.

OPP was established in February 2001 by the then Institute of Applied Health and Social Policy (IAHSP) at King's College London and joined forces with Help and Care from 1 January 2004 - each strengthening the work of the other - to:

a)   provide a secure organisational base for the Programme;

b)   consolidate and build on the work of both Help and Care and the Programme in improving and developing services and opportunities for older people and carers across the UK.

OPP works with a lively network of experienced Associate Consultants, all of whom have a national profile and are based around the UK.
