Karen was living a very muddled life due to her long term and mental health conditions. Although she was trying hard to cope with it and took all her medications, she lacked confidence and she had no real direction, or any understanding of how to change or improve her situation.
When she heard about our health coaching service “My Health My Way” from her doctor, she decided to give it a try. Karen attended six sessions, which were held at a local coffee house where she felt comfortable and relaxed. Throughout the sessions, she worked on making significant changes to her lifestyle and approach to her health conditions.
Karen now feels a lot more confident and in control of her health. For example, by planning prior to GP and consultant appointments she is able to ask appropriate questions and has gained a better understanding of her conditions. She has also adopted a more disciplined approach to her self- support, recognising that taking time for herself and relaxation plays an important part too. She has started to enjoy meditation and mindfulness again, and whilst she still feels unable to go on holiday or away from home with her husband, they now have regular time together and go for day outings and meals in local restaurants.
Karen decided to employ a carer to assist with her personal care and an agency to help with domestic chores. The garden, that was very overgrown, has been tided and consequently, Karen now feels able to go out there again and has begun to re plant and grow vegetables to aid her healthy eating plan.
