Trustees & Leadership

Adrian has worked in the NHS for 38 years, qualifying as a doctor and gaining experience in both hospitals and general practice. While working abroad for a small voluntary sector organisation, he developed an interest in the health needs of populations and communities, which led him to pursue a career in public health.

Adrian has held senior management roles in the NHS in Dorset for many years, retiring in 2013. He remains passionate about using research and evidence to promote public health and improve community well-being.

Claire brings over 30 years’ experience in health and social care, with leadership roles across sectors and a focus on transformation, safeguarding, and improving outcomes.

A former Director at Help & Care, she remains passionate about involving people in shaping services. Claire now works nationally as a consultant and is exploring sustainability in health and care, building on her background in economics. Outside work, she enjoys sailing and music.

Julie’s career began in NHS finance, undertaking various roles over 17 years which culminated as Northamptonshire HA / PCT Director of Finance.  She also worked across the education sector, including at Boscombe’s Health Sciences University where, as Chief Operating Officer, she led their estates development. 

Julie now enjoys flexible work undertaking Interim Executive assignments for educational and other charitable organisations.  

Julie, a certified accountant (FCCA) with an MBA from the University of Warwick, has been a Trustee of Bournemouth Gateway Club since 2010.

Peter has worked in the charity sector for nearly 20 years, most recently with Save the Children and with Macmillan Cancer Support. His roles have included leadership positions in Research, Fundraising and Marketing, Strategy and Transformation.

He lives in Christchurch with his wife and two young children; when he can get away from the Lego and the computer screen, he loves being outdoors, including on his allotment.

Most recently Steve held the position of Chief Executive of Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in East Grinstead for six years. Previous to this role he was Chief Executive of a social enterprise running adult community services, including 12 community hospitals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Prior to that Steve was Director of Health & Social Care with national charity Sue Ryder and chief executive of FitzRoy, a national charity supporting people with a learning disability. Locally, Steve was the founding chair of a night shelter in Bournemouth in 1993; in addition, he held senior roles with Care South (formerly The Dorset Trust). Steve has an MBA through The Open University.
