  • What is your name, how long have you been working for Help & Care, and what is your role?
My name is Kathryn Loughnan, I’ve been at Help & Care for almost 3 years now. My role is Director of Partnerships, Research and Influence.
  • Why did you decide to join Help & Care?
I’d worked in the private and public sectors previously, so I felt the VCS (Voluntary and Community Sector) calling.
  • What does a normal day look like for you at work?
No two days are the same, but usually there are lots of meetings, networking and planning projects.
  • What do you enjoy the most about your work?
Most of all I like working with colleagues who want to make a difference and finding partners to collaborate with who share the values of Help & Care. Inspiration definitely comes from colleagues on a regular basis, and I find the research work can make such an impact.
  • What word would your team use to describe you?
    Hopefully it would be supportive.
  • What’s your favourite memory from working here?
Lots to choose from, but the experience of coming to the staff conference on the edge of Bournemouth Pier prior to joining and hearing from all of the teams about the work they did was fantastic. I knew then I had made the right decision.
  • How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I love reading, baking cakes, gardening and visiting new places.
  • Why should someone want to work at Help & Care?
It is more than a place of work; it is a community of like-minded individuals. Also, I think the benefits package provided is first-rate and helps to look after the needs of our colleagues.
