We were pleased to welcome Callum Bremner JP, High Sheriff of Dorset, to our Access Wellbeing Hub in Poole.
The Hub, run by Help & Care alongside dedicated local partners and staffed by trained wellbeing coordinators, provides vital support to individuals looking for guidance, information and support. His visit provided a valuable opportunity to showcase the work we do in supporting people to receive the right support at the right time in the right way.
During his visit, he spent time with several members of our team who explained the different ways we support people at the Hub, including guiding people through complex health and social care systems, supporting them to access the right support at the right time, and sometimes just being there to listen when someone needs to talk. A highlight of the visit was the opportunity to share real stories from the people we support. From carers feeling overwhelmed and unsupported to individuals going through difficult changes in their lives. Our team is there to listen, offer reassurance, and help people take the next step with confidence.
Reflecting on his visit, the High Sheriff said:
“I just wanted to take the earliest opportunity to thank you for allowing me to visit the Hub in Poole yesterday afternoon. I now feel thoroughly knowledgeable on all aspects of Access Wellbeing in Dorset and your charity. Please thank everyone for their patience and their kindness in explaining the setup in Poole. You should be incredibly proud of what you’ve achieved in helping so many people access the right services they need.”
Speaking on behalf of the Leadership Team at Help and Care, Des Persse, Director of Services, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the High Sheriff for taking time to visit Access Wellbeing, Poole. Callum gave up a significant amount of his time to meet with our team and hear, first-hand, about the difference our community-based, open-access site is making for the local community, which means a great deal to us and those we support daily.”
