The Disaway Trust is a charity, which organises holidays for the physically disabled people. They are able to accommodate people with most kinds of physical disability aged between 16 and 80. There will be at least one RGN on each holiday. Costs and holiday details are on their website. The Holiday maker is expected to pay the full cost of the holiday with the helper paying approximately half and Disaway fundraising for the other half. Contacts for further details:

The Grove, owned by the Christchurch based Macmillan Caring offers both cancer patients and those with life threatening illnesses, and their families or carers a special Hotel Holiday in an attractive seaside setting. Whilst guests should be either self-caring or assisted by their families or carers, there is professional advice available if needed giving added security to a relaxing holiday. The hotel has 30 bedrooms, made up of 17 Standard and 13 Superior rooms. One bedroom is fully DDA compliant with a remote control bed and a recliner chair. Two more bedrooms have bathrooms that are DDA compliant and suitable for wheelchair access. The hotel has lift service to all floors with a level access entrance into the hotel.

The JST owns and operates the world’s only square rigged sailing ships, the Lord Nelson and Tenacious, especially designed and built to enable men and women of all physical abilities to share the challenge of crewing a tall ship at sea. Voyages last 5 to 11 days and are around the UK and Canary islands. Berths available for physically disabled and able-bodied adults aged 16 and over. There are no passengers on board, every crew member has a role to play irrespective of age, ability or gender. Each voyage can take up to 40 crew including 20 people with physical disabilities, including 8 wheelchair users.

A national disability charity with accessible centres located around the UK. The centres are open all year round, providing guests with an extensive range of short breaks for disabled people in a holiday setting.
