Support groups for carers'
Caring for a loved one or relative can be hard work, so Help and Care are here to support carers in as many ways as we can be it giving information and advice, a short break service, advocacy and support, or practical help with home repairs or adaptations.
As a carer you have a right to ask for an assessment of your needs. It is important that your health and well being is maintained and that you are supported in your caring role.
Each local authority has a Carers Co-ordinator or Case Worker who is able to offer help, information and support. For further details contact your local Social Services office for further information about caring, details of training courses, support groups and carers social events:
Dorset Direct: 01305 221016 for an initial assessment of your needs as a carer
You can also call the Social Care and Health out-of-office-hours Emergency Duty Team on 01202 657279.
