About Face Foundation for Head & Neck Cancer is a support group providing information, giving support and improving patients and carers quality of life across Dorset.
There is a drop-in session every Tuesday for any patients and their family & friends wishing to visit the Centre between 10am – 1pm, and have an opportunity to talk with other patients or ex-patients who are part of our group of volunteers. There is also a core
monthly support group that meets in the evening on the first Monday of the month (except August), contact is Christine Brienne. The general office is open Monday – Friday 10am -4pm contact is Liz Vivian.

A support group for patients, family and friends following Radiotherapy treatment. Group members are from across the whole of Dorset. The group can provide friendship, advice, support, information, and interesting talks. Come and join in on the 2nd Monday of each month between 2pm and 4pm. Alzheimer’s Society – East Dorset Branch (includes Poole, Purbeck and East Dorset)

Coffee mornings The Engine Room, Poundbury Garden Centre, Peverll Ave, Dorchester, DT1 3RT meets once a month on Monday between 10.30am - 12 noon. Local group: Dorchester & District BackCare (DDBC) meet quarterly in the Children’s Centre, Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester. The meetings are held in the mornings between 10am – 12.30pm, refreshments are provided, and are for anyone who has a back problem, carers, and anyone interested in back care. Books, equipment, dietary and pain management advice available, along with benefit advice. Social events and meals out also arranged. Diabetes advice

If you think you may be suffering from Diabetes you should visit your GP who will be able to make a diagnosis or refer you for the necessary tests. Many GP surgeries run clinics for
those who have been diagnosed with Diabetes to enable patients to monitor and receive information about their condition. Your GP may also refer you to the Diabetes Clinic at a local hospital where Diabetes Nurse Specialists are available to offer information, advice and training to people with diabetes and their carers.

Melodies for Memories

Melodies for Memories sessions offer a wide range of music activities for people affected by memory loss.  The sessions include basic memory exercises, singing along to popular and familiar songs, listening to musicians and performers, and meeting other people with similar experiences.
