Age Concern Poole – ‘BUSS’ Bus Service

The bus is available for local travel or day trips and a volunteer driver will be provided. People can be collected and returned to their own homes by prior arrangement. Wheelchairs cannot be accommodated. The charge is £30 for the first 20 miles, then 85p per mile each extra mile.This service is for organised groups of older or disabled people and their carers living in the Poole and Westbourne area only. Bournemouth Community Transport – ‘Bat Bus’ Shopping Service

Operated by the charity SEDCAT – (South East Dorset Community Accessible Transport) for people living in Bournemouth Borough (postcodes BH1 to BH11 inclusive) who cannot use public transport. The fully accessible minibuses travel to Castlepoint Shopping Centre, Castle Lane and the Sovereign Centre in Boscombe on weekday mornings. You will be picked up from your home and given around two hours at the shopping centre before being taken home.

Travel is available according to where you live and the first pick up is at 9am (from your home). To book, call the day before you wish to go shopping. The booking line is open 10am – 11am on 01202 399700. Annual membership: £6 – newsletter gives details of day trips to places of interest. Return shopping trips:£5.


Bournemouth Community Car Scheme – (SEDCAT)

Available to residents of Bournemouth (postcode areas BH1 – BH11) who are unable to use public transport for the journey required. You may need help with essential journeys such as attending the doctor, dentist, chiropodist, luncheon club etc. For further information about membership tel: 01202 399700 (Boscombe Shopmobility Office). Boscombe Shopmobility – is a scheme for people of any age who have mobility problems, whether the result of permanent of temporary disablement, age, accident or illness, who wish to shop or visit the Boscombe area. Clients do not need to be registered disabled. Shopmobility is based on the ground floor of the car park at the Sovereign Centre Boscombe and can provide the short term loan of a wheelchair (powered or manual) or a powered scooter. Annual membership fee: £20 + £1 usage fee. Open Monday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. For further information contact:

Castlepoint Shopmobility

For people of any age who have mobility problems, whether the result of permanent or temporary disablement, age, accident or illness, who wish to shop or visit the Castlepoint area. Clients do not need to be registered disabled.

Shopmobility is based on the ground floor of the car park at Castlepoint Shopping Centre and can provide the short term loan of a wheelchair (powered or manual) or a powered scooter. Long loans of powered scooters and manual wheelchairs

At Boscombe and Castlepoint Shopmobility electric scooters and manual wheelchairs are available for long loan for periods of time outside normal opening hours.
There are four, small 4 wheel electric scooters available throughout the year which are fully collapsible, fitting comfortably into a car boot, as well as a large range of manual wheelchairs.
