If you need transport to get to non-emergency medical appointments, visit someone in hospital, attend a social activity or just to visit friends and family then Community Transport may be the answer. A telephone service is now available for anyone to find out if there is a community transport scheme in their area. Just call the number and provide your postcode. Dorset Community Transport Directory
Dorset County Council Adult & Community Services in association with Dorset Community Action have produced a booklet listing 40 voluntary car schemes, dial-a-rides and other Community Transport initiatives across Dorset. To download the Directory, go to the Community Transport link on the Dorset For You website: www.dorsetforyou.com.

A voluntary car scheme providing transport for hospital visiting and appointments, doctors and other medical appointments and prescription collection. Drivers use their own vehicles. The service is available to the disabled, mobility impaired, and people over 65 years of age. Donations towards mileage costs gratefully accepted. The areas served are Wareham, Sandford, Carey, Stoborough, Ridge, Corfe Castle, Bere Regis, Bloxworth, Stoborough Green, Lychett Matravers, Upton, Holton Heath, Norden, Morden, East Morden, Lychett Minster, Slepe, Arne, Church Knowle, East Creech. North Dorset Community Accessible Transport (NORDCAT)
Now operating in Purbeck, a dial-a-ride service enabling access to shopping and social activities available to the elderly and disabled people with no access to or unable to use public transport. NORDCAT minibuses are wheelchair accessible and can carry up to 15 passengers. Transport to and from doctors, dentists and opticians and prescription collection service in Wool, Bovington, East and West Lulworth, East Stoke, Winfrith, East Knighton, East Burton and Coombe Keynes. Charges: 40p per mile. Telephone the Co-ordinator Mrs Bridget Hine on 01929 463835.
Available 7 days a week, all year round to help with providing car transport. At least one day’s notice required. Charges: 40p per mile, minimum of £1.00.
