Wessex Voices

Local Healthwatch and NHS England working together to make your voices count

Funded by NHS England/Improvement - South East (NHSE/I-SE) and formed in 2015, Wessex Voices aims to improve health and care outcomes by transforming services through the involvement of people.

We are a unique partnership of NHS England/Improvement commissioners and five local Healthwatch based in Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton. We are the only partnership like this nationally, and exist to provide independent, expert advice and guidance to transform the way patients and the public are involved in NHSE/I commissioning.

We operate under five principles that drive our work: fresh perspectives, advice and guidance, developmental support, a focus on health inequalities and assurance.

Some of the areas we support include: pharmacy, dentistry, eye care, screening, immunisations, cancer, mental health and maternity services. We also support NHSE/I colleagues to become more confident and better equipped to engage effectively with local people through development and training courses, including our very successful Empowering Engagement Programme.

Wessex Voices is hosted by Help and Care, providing infrastructure support, as well as managing three of the five local Healthwatch in the partnership.
