Why Donate

Why should I donate?

Your donation goes a long way to support our Volunteers. Volunteering plays a key role to supporting members of our community.  For many people that access this service, the contact they have with our volunteers may be the only contact they have.

Despite living in a society where we have the means to be more connected than ever, according to a recent publication from the government: ‘somewhere between 6% and 18% of the population have reported often feeling lonely’.  This can negatively impact our lives, including our health, wellbeing, productivity, and self-esteem (Gov.uk)

At Help & Care, we have a fantastic group of volunteers who work with us, committed to providing support to our local community.  You can read more about our volunteering services here.

Our volunteers’ services relies on donations as the primary source of income.  Without the generosity of people like you, we would not be able to provide this support and continue to support people in our community.  Thank you for your support!

Help & Care made a real difference to my quality of life. I was feeling really depressed, joining a local support group helped me take up some new activities and enjoy life again. I also look forward to the volunteers call every week. We talk about gardening and reading; our common passions.

How does my donation help?

Your donation ensures that volunteer services at Help & Care can continue to run and volunteers recieve support and training in supporting the local community.

One of our Volunteers, Richard Osborn shares his experience of being a Community Support Volunteer at Help & Care:

I visit an elderly lady who is on her own since her husband passed away fairly recently, and she finds it difficult to deal with paying utility bills, sorting out junk mail.  During her married life, her husband dealt with all the financial business, paid the bills, now she’s at a bit of a loss to deal with that herself so she needs some help.  So I visit her on a fortnightly basis and she is a very sociable, engagaing lady so I enjoy that aswell
